 Body Measurement

Measuring instructions

  • Wearing good fitting shirt, or T-shirt and pants (no jeans!) with the pockets empty;
  • Keep the tape firm, but not tight so you do not feel restricted;
  • All measurements should be taken to the nearest half (0.5) centimeter or quarter (0.25) inch;
  • Ask someone to measure you;

If you are unsure some measurements taken from the body, such as Sleeve Length, Garment Back Length etc., take from a garment that fits you well.

 
 Neck
Measure around the neck where the collar would be (just below the Adam's apple);
Placing one finger behind the tape to ensure some breathing space;
Add 1 or 2cm to the actual measurement for shirt collar if more space is needed;
 
 
 Full chest
Measure around the fullest part of the chest; Make sure you are relaxed with normal breathing;
Make sure the tape is in horizontal front and back;
 
 
 Waist
Measure around the widest part of belly. If your belly is flat, run the tape 5cm above your navel;
Make sure the tape is in horizontal at front and back;
 
 
 Hips
Measure around the fullest part of the hips; Make sure the tape is in horizontal front and back;
 
 
 Shoulder
Measure across the top of the shoulder between the arm seams of a correct fitting shirt;
(If unsure this measurement taken from the body, take it from a garment that fits well.)
 
 
 Bicep
Measure around the upper arm at the fullest point;
Relaxed and keep arms by your sides;
 
 
 Wrist
Measure around the wrist bone;
Placing one finger behind the tape;
 
 
 Sleeve length
Measure from the arm seam of a correct fitting shirt straight down to the level where your first thumb knuckle is;
(If unsure this measurement taken from the body, take it from a garment that fits well.)
 
 
 Garment back length
Measure from the nape straight down to the level where the thumb tip is as shown.
You can adjust the length by plus or minus 1cm to 5cm to your preferred length;
(If unsure this measurement taken from the body, take it from a garment that fits well.)
 
 
 Back length
Measure from the back collar seam straight down to the top of the waistband as shown.
 
 
 Pants waist
Measure around the waist where your belt normally is
Relaxed and do not hold your stomach in;
 
 
 Thigh
Measure around your thigh at widest point;
Keep the tap in horizontal;
 
 
 Crotch
Measure from the front top of the waistband to back top of the waistband as shown;
Make sure not to pull the tape so tight to feel restricted;
(Wear good fit trousers when you are being measured. No Jeans!)
 
 
 Pants outseam
Take off your shoes first;
Measure from top of the waistband, along the side seam, straight down to the floor;
Measure both sides if customer has different leg lengths
 
 

Minimum Body Measurements Required

Minimum Body Measurements are required for customer shirt, 2-piece suit, sports jacket, trousers only, vest only, and overcoat orders

Custom shirt Height, Neck, Full chest, Waist, Hips, Shoulder, Bicep, Wrist, Sleeve length, Garment back length, Back length.
2-Piece Suit Height, Neck, Full chest, Waist, Hips, Shoulder, Bicep, Sleeve length, Garment Back Length, Back length, Pants waist, Thigh, Crotch, Pants outseam.
Sports Jacket Height, Neck, Full chest, Waist, Hips, Shoulder, Bicep, Sleeve length, Garment Back Length, Back length.
Trousers Only Height, Pants waist, Hips, Thigh, Crotch, Pants outseam.
Vest Only Height, Neck, Full chest, Waist, Shoulder, Pants waist, Back length.
Overcoat Height, Neck, Full chest, Waist, Hips, Shoulder, Bicep, Sleeve length, Garment Back Length, Back length.
